Projects in Silicon Valley, California

Social Interaction thru Play:
Our experience and research has shown that if the children are exposed to various activities in a systematic, safe natural environment, there is a high possibility the child will develop the life skills necessary for self-care, work, learning and a constructive relationship with their community. We organize field trips to movie theatres, ice skating rinks, aquarium, library, and summer camps for the children and playgroups that encourage sharing, appropriate social interaction, all in a fun environment.

Chhavi Therapy Reimbursement Program:
In memory of their daughter Chhavi, and recognizing that most of the time children with special needs require continual services and therapies just to avoid regression, Jeena with the help of Popli family is happy to initiate Chhavi Therapy Reimbursement Program.

The objective of this program is to help families continue, or explore treatments and therapies, and/or change the intensity of therapy services that are not funded by insurance companies, schools and other agencies.

The intent of this program is to provide a bridge to reduce a gap in services for children whose parents are facing financial hardship. Any Jeena family may nominate any other Jeena family in the Bay Area for this program including themselves. No monies will be given to the family. Jeena will directly pay the therapist providing the service for no more than a year. Final decision is with Jeena's Board of Directors.

For more details please contact Beejal Gajjar, financial officer at Jeena.

Monthly Family Event:
Online forum and regular meetings have encouraged parents to share information, resources, concerns and feelings. This has been the corner stone for the success of Jeena. We have close to 180 members in the secure online forum for parents. The parents have developed close bonds with each other and feel comfortable discussing their needs and resources.

Awareness Day for Developmental Disorders Affecting Children
