Recognitions that Jeena has recieved by the news media

Janet Gray's Award:

Jeena Founder Rajni Madan received the 2004 Janet Hayes Award on March 30, at San Jose City College. Elected in 1974 Janet Gray Hayes was the first woman mayor of San Jose, and the first woman mayor of a major US city. She has lent her name to grace this important award and has chosen San Jose City College to house it. She personally chooses the recepient and presents the award. Some of the past recepients of this award are; Zoe Lofgren, Gloria Duffy, Ysabel Duran. You can check Janet Gray Hayes' web site for further details.

Each year, this award is given to a woman who has done outstanding service to the community and who serves as a model for other women. Janet Gray Hayes personally mentored and influenced many women many of whom are trailblazers in many fields today.

Since 1977, San Jose City College has awarded the Janet Gray Hayes Award every year to an outstanding woman of the Bay Area who has a major impact on the community through community service. Rajni had stiff competition from other very influential and extraordinary women. But Janet Gray Hayes thought that Rajni was an excellent choice. She was also very delighted that a member from the Indian community is the recepient.

The award ceremony was on March 30 at San Jose City College.
